Former Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez has lamented the bowling decisions taken by T20I captain Salman Ali Agha during Pakistan’s clash against India in the Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 in Colombo on Sunday.
Speaking after the match, the former Pakistan captain was of the view that Agha, having bowled two impressive overs for 10 runs and claimed the wicket of Abhishek Sharma, ought to have continued for a third and fourth over. He maintained that such a move might have restricted India to a lower total.
Hafeez also questioned the decision to hand the sixth over to Saim Ayub despite the momentum built earlier. He said a premium bowler should have been introduced during the powerplay at a decisive stage against the arch-rivals.
He praised the performance of mystery off-spinner Usman Tariq, who returned figures of 1-24, terming his spell as impressive. However, Hafeez criticised the timing of his introduction into the attack, adding that Ishan Kishan had already inflicted significant damage with the bat by then.
