Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha said on Sunday that the Green Shirts’s batting and bowling lines disappointed in the match against India.
Speaking after the defeat, Salman Agha said the side did not secure a sound start with the bat. He said the spinners had delivered steady performances over the past six months, yet both the bowling and batting lines disappointed. He added that victory against Namibia would be required to secure a place in the Super 8 stage.
Head coach Mike Hesson said India outclassed Pakistan in the T20 World Cup group match.
Addressing a press conference after the loss, Hesson said the ball skidded more in the second innings. He said Ishan Kishan took the game away from Pakistan and that India posted 20 to 25 runs more than expected.
He said Usman Tariq was introduced in keeping with his defined role and at the proper time. However, Pakistan did not bat well, while Ishan Kishan applied pressure on the spinners. He said India outclassed Pakistan.
Hesson said there was disappointment in the dressing room. He maintained the decision to bowl first was correct, adding that the ball turned more in the first innings. He said improved performances would be required to progress further in the tournament. Early wickets fell in quick succession, he said, adding that although the side had played well for two months, it fell short on the day.
He said the plan for Captain Salman Agha to bowl the first over had been made three days earlier, and that the captain had practised for the role and was prepared.
