Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha struck a confident tone ahead of the high-stakes clash against India, calling it a “big-level match” and assuring fans that the team is fully prepared for every situation — including rain interruptions.
Addressing a press conference in Colombo, Salman Ali Agha said tomorrow’s contest will be played at a massive level.
“We are ready and will try to perform well,” the national team captain said, emphasizing that the squad has prepared thoroughly for the encounter.
He added that while playing conditions may offer some familiarity, “to win you have to play good cricket.”
Usman Tariq backed as key weapon
The captain described Usman Tariq as the team’s “trump card” ahead of the India match. Responding to discussions about Tariq’s bowling action, Salman Agha said the spinner has already been cleared twice and questioned why the issue continues to surface.
“Usman Tariq has been cleared twice; I don’t know why his action is being discussed,” he remarked, firmly backing his teammate.
Spin to play crucial role
Agha acknowledged that spinners are likely to have an important role in the match against India. However, he pointed out that Pakistan also has quality fast bowlers who can be utilized depending on conditions.
“There are spinners but there are also fast bowlers, we can use them,” he said, highlighting the team’s bowling depth.
Ready for rain
With rain forecast in Colombo, the captain said the team cannot control the weather but is prepared for all scenarios.
“We can’t do anything about the rain. If the overs are reduced, the plan is also ready,” he said, signaling tactical flexibility. He added that Pakistan came prepared for every possible situation.
Salman Ali Agha stressed that all 15 squad members are equally important. “For me, all 15 players are important; anyone can play the match,” he said, suggesting that the final playing XI will depend on strategy and conditions.
When asked about India’s lineup, he said, “Now it depends on them what they do,” indicating Pakistan’s focus remains on its own preparations.
Sporting spirit, injury concern
The captain emphasized that the game should be played in the same sporting spirit as it has been from the beginning. He also expressed hope that India’s Abhishek Sharma recovers from injury in time to feature in tomorrow’s match.
With anticipation building, Salman Ali Agha’s message was clear: Pakistan is ready for the challenge and focused on delivering strong cricket on the big stage.
