US President Donald Trump delivered a robust speech Friday underscoring the administration’s push for a deal with Iran, while emphasizing military strength, past operations and peace initiatives.
Trump stressed that diplomacy remains the preferred path — but warned Iran must act to avoid potential conflict.
Speaking at a ceremony in North Carolina, President Trump said the United States wants a deal with Iran, but acknowledged that “a deal with Iran looks difficult.” He reiterated that while diplomacy is ongoing, Tehran must take concrete steps if it hopes to avert military action.
Trump stated if Iran makes a proper deal with Washington, the US will not attack. However, he said that up to now Iran has done nothing to secure a successful deal, and at the moment they are talking too much and not taking action.
Military buildup, past operations
Trump highlighted the deployment of a huge fleet toward Iran — a show of force intended to both pressure Tehran and signal US readiness. He referenced the deployment of aircraft carriers and military assets, including past operations by B-2 bombers against Iranian nuclear facilities, known as Operation Midnight Hammer.

“Our enemies around the world are afraid,” Trump said, noting the United States has the most powerful army in the world with the best weapons. He underlined that past operations were conducted with precision and strength and that the nation remains prepared for whatever comes next.
Actions as peace efforts
Trump also framed US military and diplomatic efforts as part of a broader strategy for peace. He claimed that under his leadership America “took steps to establish peace in the world” and said he “stopped 8 wars in 10 months”.
On the Middle East, he stated, the US prefers diplomacy but remains ready to act decisively if talks “fail.”
Trump didn’t confine his remarks to Iran. He referenced major actions in Venezuela, noting steps taken there that he said “have never been done before,” and spoke of trillions of dollars invested in America in one year, including an $18 trillion investment promise from the Saudi Crown Prince.
On Iran, administration officials are continuing indirect talks and military preparations alike. US–Iran negotiations have been ongoing since 2025, with meetings in Oman and mediated discussions on nuclear limitations. Iran has shown willingness to limit its nuclear program in exchange for sanction relief, but has resisted missile constraints and other US demands.
Trump’s speech makes clear his position: diplomacy first, but pressure and potential force remain part of US strategy as tensions continue to simmer.
