Internationally acclaimed Indian singer Udit Narayan is once again embroiled in a legal dispute, this time with his first wife.
According to Indian media reports, Narayan’s first wife, Ranjana Jha, has formally lodged a complaint at the Women’s Police Station in Supaul district, Bihar. In her complaint, she alleges that, without her consent or knowledge, Udit Narayan and his second wife allegedly had her uterus removed under the pretext of a medical procedure.
Ranjana claimed that the operation was orchestrated by Udit Narayan, his brothers Sanjay Kumar and Lalit Narayan, and his second wife, Deepa Narayan, as part of a conspiracy. According to her statement, in 1996, she was taken to a hospital in Delhi for treatment, where her uterus was removed without her permission.
She added that she only learned about the surgery years later during a medical examination, which caused her severe psychological trauma.
Ranjana Jha also stated that she married Udit Narayan on December 7, 1984, and that he moved to Mumbai the following year to pursue his career. She claimed that she later discovered through media reports that
Udit Narayan had married Deepa Narayan as his second wife. According to Ranjana, whenever she questioned Udit Narayan about his second marriage, she was misled.
It is worth noting that Udit Narayan is already facing a maintenance case filed by Ranjana, which is still pending in court.
As of now, neither Udit Narayan nor his current wife Deepa Narayan have issued any official response to the new allegations. Legal experts have indicated that if the claims are proven, this could become a serious criminal matter.
