Pindi Boys is likely to become the new name of Multan Sultans, the Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise that was recently auctioned and acquired by Walee Tech, according to sources familiar with the matter.
The Multan Sultans franchise was sold on Monday in a high-profile auction, with digital marketing firm Walee Tech emerging as the successful bidder. Shortly after the acquisition, the new owners announced that the franchise would no longer retain the Multan identity and would instead be rebranded under the name Rawalpindi.
Now, sources say that the proposed full name for the team is expected to be Pindi Boys, though an official confirmation is still awaited. The name has reportedly been discussed internally and informally shared within cricket circles, triggering debate among PSL fans on social media.
The potential rebranding marks a major shift, as Multan Sultans had built a strong identity in the league over recent seasons, including a PSL title and multiple playoff appearances. While some fans have welcomed Rawalpindi’s direct representation in the PSL, others have expressed disappointment over the disappearance of the Multan brand.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) allows new franchise owners to rename and relocate teams under league regulations. An official announcement regarding the final name, branding, and home venue is expected in the coming days.
