A local court in Karachi has extended the interim bail of well-known YouTuber Rajab Butt until March 30 in a case related to alleged disrespect of Islamic symbols.
The hearing regarding Rajab Butt’s interim bail in the case was held at the Karachi Central Sessions Court. The proceedings were conducted by the Additional District and Sessions Judge (Central).
During the hearing, the court accepted the request filed by the accused’s lawyers seeking an adjournment of the proceedings. Rajab Butt, who is currently on interim bail, appeared before the court in person.
The complainant’s lawyer objected, arguing that the court timing was 8:30 am, while the accused appeared at 9:30 am. On this basis, the lawyer requested the court to cancel Rajab Butt’s bail. He further stated that the prosecution was fully prepared to present evidence, but the accused’s counsel failed to appear in court.
In response, a junior lawyer informed the court that Rajab Butt’s counsel, Mian Ali Ashfaq, was on official leave.
The court remarked that the defense lawyer had also failed to appear on previous occasions and directed that a formal application should be submitted in such situations.
Subsequently, the court approved the request for adjournment and extended Rajab Butt’s interim bail until March 30.
