After a spirited showing against Pakistan, the Netherlands registered their first win of the tournament by defeating Namibia by seven wickets in the 10th match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 in Delhi on Tuesday.
All-rounder Bas de Leede produced a commanding display, scoring an unbeaten 72 and returning figures of 2 for 20, to steer the Dutch side home with 12 balls to spare. His contribution proved decisive in both innings and earned him the player of the match award.
Batting first, Namibia posted 156 for eight in their allotted 20 overs. Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton led the effort with a well-made 42, while Jan Frylinck added 30. Late contributions from JJ Smit and Gerhard Erasmus pushed the total beyond 150, but regular wickets prevented Namibia from building sustained momentum.

The Netherlands bowlers maintained discipline throughout the innings. Logan van Beek and Aryan Dutt struck early, while de Leede removed key batters in the middle overs to restrict the scoring rate.
In reply, the Netherlands chased the target with authority. Despite early dismissals of Max O’Dowd and Michael Levitt, de Leede anchored the innings with a composed knock, finding the boundary regularly and rotating the strike effectively. Colin Ackermann supported him with 32, before captain Scott Edwards finished the chase with an unbeaten 18.
The win lifted the Netherlands’ standing in the group and underlined their growing competitiveness in the tournament.
