The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has refused requests from Indian players to keep their families together during the ICC T20 World Cup, adhering to its existing guidelines.
Players have been advised to make their own arrangements if they wish to have family members present.
According to reports in Indian media, the Indian team management approached the BCCI after players requested that their families be allowed to stay together during the tournament. The board, however, maintained its longstanding policy and denied the request.
A statement from the BCCI clarified that while families cannot be accommodated together with the players, individuals are free to organize their own arrangements outside the official team setup.
Background
The BCCI’s stance follows guidelines issued after the Indian team’s 2025 tour of Australia, which similarly restricted family accommodations for players during international events. The policy has consistently emphasized team focus and logistics over family presence during tournaments.
Players and officials have not publicly commented on the potential impact of the decision, though it may affect personal comfort and morale during the ICC T20 World Cup.
