A Lahore district court on Monday indicted popular YouTuber Saad-ur-Rehman, aka Ducky Bhai, and his wife Aroob Jatoi over allegations of promoting online gambling applications.
Both denied the charges during the hearing.
The hearing took place in the court of Judicial Magistrate Naeem Wattoo, where Ducky Bhai, his wife, and other accused were present. The accused formally denied all allegations related to the promotion of online gambling platforms.
The magistrate has scheduled the next phase of the case for February 23, when witnesses will appear before the court to provide testimony.
Background
The National Coordination Centre for Information Assurance (NCCIA) registered the case against Ducky Bhai and others. The accused are alleged to have promoted online gambling and betting applications through digital platforms, a charge that has raised concerns about online content regulation and youth exposure to gambling.
During Monday’s proceedings, Saad-ur-Rehman and the other defendants maintained their stance of innocence. Their lawyer emphasized that the promotion claims are unsubstantiated, and the court will now hear witness testimonies in the coming hearing.
