Hyderabad has officially welcomed its new Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise, with the team being named Hyderabad Kingsmen.
The announcement was made by the team owner, Fawad Sarwar, during a grand ceremony at Niaz Stadium. The event also featured a spectacular fireworks display to mark the occasion.
The unveiling ceremony began with the national anthem, followed by speeches from prominent dignitaries, including Hyderabad Mayor Kashif Shoro. Speaking to the crowd, Mayor Shoro described the day as a historic moment for the city, welcoming Fawad Sarwar and the Kingsmen franchise.
“It is a proud moment for Hyderabad to give the people a gift of this magnitude,” said Shoro. “We hope to host PSL matches in Hyderabad’s grounds soon, allowing local fans to witness international-level cricket in their city.”
Mayor Shoro further praised the city’s youth, noting their achievements on the international stage and highlighting the significance of Niaz Stadium as a “lucky ground” for the Pakistani cricket team, where the national side has historically never lost a match.
The event concluded with the official logo reveal of Hyderabad Kingsmen, setting the stage for the team’s debut in the upcoming PSL season and marking Hyderabad’s prominent entry into Pakistan’s premier T20 cricket league.
