Renowned Bollywood actor Pankaj Tripathi has returned to theatre after 12 years and shared the stage with his daughter, calling it a memorable moment of his life.
According to Indian media reports, Pankaj Tripathi is making his return to theatre after 12 years with a short role in the musical comedy play “Lilaaj”.
The play has been produced by Pankaj Tripathi and his wife Mridula, and also features their daughter Aashi.
Through this play, Aashi is making her professional stage acting debut, and for the first time she will be sharing the stage with her father.
“Lilaaj” takes Pankaj Tripathi back to the early days of his theatre journey and, for him, represents a kind of homecoming.
Speaking about his return to theatre, Pankaj Tripathi said that theatre is the place where his real journey as an actor began, and returning after 12 years not only revives old memories but also keeps him grounded.
He said that cinema has given him immense love and recognition, but the closeness of theatre is different; it humbles you, challenges you, and keeps you honest as an artist.
He added that “Lilaaj” is very close to his heart because it is a project born out of family, friendship, and a shared love for storytelling.
He said that producing the play with his wife Mridula has been a heartfelt experience, and the process reminded them why they began dreaming in the first place.
Talking about performing on stage with his daughter, Pankaj Tripathi said that watching Aashi step onto the stage is one of the most emotional experiences of his life, and he could not imagine a better beginning for her.
