Pakistan said that a nexus between India and Afghanistan is behind a recent terrorist attack in the country.
Official sources stated that the suicide bomber received training in Afghanistan and had entered Pakistan from Afghanistan some time ago. Authorities said that various terrorist groups operating from Afghan territory pose a serious threat to the security of the entire region.
Government sources further said that the entire nation stands united like a “wall of lead” against such cowardly acts, adding that attacks on mosques and innocent civilians cannot weaken the resolve of the Pakistani people.
It is worth noting that a suicide bombing during Friday prayers at a mosque in Islamabad resulted in the martyrdom of 31 people, while more than 160 others were injured.
According to a spokesperson for the district administration, the total number of martyrs stands at 31, while the number of injured brought to hospitals after the blast has risen to 169.
Police sources said that the attacker was stopped at the gate, after which he detonated himself. Police and security agencies are continuing their operations in the area.
Police officials further stated that the foreign suicide bomber was linked to Fitna al-Khawarij, a banned militant group.
