The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) into the education system as part of efforts to further improve learning standards across the province.
According to the Education Department, AI will be formally introduced into the curriculum starting March 2026.
In view of the growing global importance of artificial intelligence, authorities have approved teaching AI as a dedicated subject in educational institutions across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The subject will be taught from Grade 6 to Grade 12, with 35 to 50 percent of the curriculum at different levels focused specifically on AI-related content.
To support effective teaching, experienced IT teachers will be recruited for AI instruction. In addition, the government plans to establish a total of 5,525 IT laboratories across the province. Under the plan, 225 IT labs will be set up in higher secondary schools, while 3,515 labs will be established in middle schools.
Officials say the initiative aims to equip students with future-ready skills and align the province’s education system with modern technological advancements.
