Former national team spin bowler Saeed Ajmal has come out in support of Usman Tariq following comments made by Australia’s Cameron Green.
Saeed Ajmal said the gesture made by Cameron Green on the field was inappropriate and should not have happened. He recalled that the Australian team had levelled similar allegations about his bowling action in 2009.

Ajmal said his action was later cleared, and Usman Tariq’s action has also already been cleared. He stated that if there is any concern over Usman Tariq’s action, the matter should be taken up with the ICC rather than making gestures on the ground.
Ajmal said every player and every team has its own dignity, and the match referee should have taken immediate action over the incident. He added that action must be taken so that no one feels free to undermine another player’s respect.
Saeed Ajmal urged PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi to ensure that a formal report is prepared on the matter. He further said that a short-statured Indian bowler used to bowl in a similar manner but no action was taken against him.
Ajmal questioned why such issues arise when it comes to Pakistani players, while similar cases elsewhere go unnoticed.
