Special Assistant to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Shafi Jan has clarified that no military or security operation is currently taking place in the Tirah Valley, while outlining relief measures for displaced residents and voicing concerns over the health and treatment of the PTI founder.
Speaking during the Samaa TV programme 'Mere Sawal', Shafi Jan categorically stated that there is no operation underway in Tirah Valley at present.
He reiterated that the situation on the ground does not involve any active military action, countering circulating reports and speculation.
Jan said the provincial government provided a relief package of Rs4 billion to facilitate people who were displaced from Tirah during heavy snowfall. He added that the government is ready to release another Rs4 billion if required.
“We are not doing any corruption,” he said, stressing that funds are being allocated transparently and that even Rs4 billion is insufficient, prompting the government to arrange additional resources.
Addressing questions about local consultations, Shafi Jan said the jirga did not take place with the provincial administration. He clarified that the jirga was held between the jirga committee and the Inspector General Frontier Corps (IGFC).
He also denied claims that PTI had labeled jirga members as agents of the federal government.
Concerns over PTI founder’s treatment
Shafi Jan raised serious concerns regarding the health of the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. He said the PTI founder was taken from jail to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) Hospital without informing his family.
According to him, authorities said the PTI founder would be medically examined, but his personal physician, who had traveled from Lahore, was not allowed to meet him.
Jan said the medical examination at PIMS was conducted in secrecy, which has caused serious concern within the party. “Nothing is more important to us than the health of the PTI founder,” he said.
He questioned why the personal physician was denied access and said efforts to meet the Chief Justice regarding the matter were unsuccessful.
Political stance and Supreme Court presence
The KP CM’s aide said PTI would not move towards blocked streets, emphasizing that public support remains firmly with the party. He claimed that around 200 PTI parliamentarians were present outside the Supreme Court during recent developments.
He added that if the PTI founder recovers, party workers and leaders are prepared to face arrest.
Reiteration: No operation in Tirah
Concluding his remarks, Shafi Jan once again stressed that no operation is taking place in Tirah Valley at the moment, urging the public not to believe unverified reports.
