Fans of Hera Pheri may finally have reason to celebrate. Paresh Rawal has revealed the real reason behind the long delay of Hera Pheri 3, confirming that the much-awaited sequel is now set to begin filming in early 2026.
The cult comedy franchise Hera Pheri, starring Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal, and Suniel Shetty, has remained a fan favourite for over two decades.
While excitement around the third instalment has been high, the project faced repeated delays and controversies, leaving fans uncertain about its future.
Much of the concern intensified after reports of Paresh Rawal’s sudden exit from the film surfaced, triggering speculation about disputes within the team.
Rawal has now confirmed that he is very much part of the project and that Hera Pheri 3 is officially back on track.
Shooting timeline revealed
Speaking during a conversation with The Comedy Factory, the veteran actor shared that filming is expected to begin in February or March.
His remarks reassured fans that the long wait for the sequel may finally be nearing its end.
Clearing the air on controversy
Addressing reports that Akshay Kumar had sued him for ₹25 crore, Rawal dismissed the claims as exaggerated.
“All this that had blown up in between that Akshay Kumar has sued me for INR 25 crore, that is all okay yaa, it’s like kachva chaap agarbatti,” the 70-year-old said, suggesting there was unnecessary hype around the issue.
Speaking in Gujarati, Rawal clarified that the delay was due to a technical matter between the producer and Akshay Kumar.
“This is a technical issue between the producer and an actor [Akshay]. Nothing to do with me,” he said, adding that once the matter is resolved, he will simply sign the papers.
Directed by Priyadarshan, Hera Pheri first released in 2000 and went on to become a cult classic.
The trio reunited in 2006 for Phir Hera Pheri, directed by the late Neeraj Vora, further cementing the franchise’s iconic status.
Paresh Rawal was last seen in the 2025 film The Taj Story, continuing his long-standing presence in Indian cinema.
