Adam Zampa’s (4-24) has restricted Pakistan to 168-8 in the first T20I at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Thursday.
Opting to bat first, Pakistan lost Sahibzada Farhan on first-ball duck, when Xavier Bartlett perplexed him. But it was 74-run stand between Saim Ayub and captain Salman Ali Agha that added impetus to the Pakistan’s innings.
The stand was broken by Australian linchpin Adam Zampa, when he removed Saim Ayub on 22-ball 40. Saim smashed three boundaries and two towering sixes.
Salman Ali Agha has clobbered one boundary and four towering sixes in his 27-ball 39. But it was Zampa, who sent the Pakistan T20I captain back to the pavilion.
Pakistan former captain Babar Azam, was once again struggling to negotiate with the bat, scoring 20-ball 24. Zampa trapped Babar lbw.
Usman Khan scored 14-ball 18, lacing with two boundaries. Shadab Khan (1) and Shaheen Shah Afridi (0) failed to show any resistance with bat.
Mohammad Nawaz (15) and Salman Mirza (4) remained unbeaten.
For Australia, Adam Zampa spearheaded the bowling attack, scooping four wickets. Xavier Bartlett (2-26) and Mahli Beardman (2-33) scooped up two wickets apiece.
Cooper Connolly, Matthew Short, Jack Edwards, Cameron Green remained wicketless.
