A woman and her daughter fell into an open manhole near the main gate of Data Darbar on Wednesday, triggering an emergency rescue operation by Rescue 1122.
According to officials, Rescue 1122 received an emergency call reporting that two people had fallen into a manhole near Bhati Gate, close to the main entrance of Data Darbar. Rescue vehicles and emergency teams were immediately dispatched to the scene.
A Rescue 1122 spokesperson said the caller reported that a mother and her daughter had fallen into a sewer, prompting search and rescue teams to begin an operation to retrieve them.
Rescue sources stated that several manholes had been left open following excavation work at the Bird Market area. The woman and her daughter were passing through the area when, due to poor lighting, they failed to notice the uncovered manhole and fell inside.
The rescue operation was ongoing at the time of reporting, while authorities were assessing the situation at the site.
