Xiaomi is set to launch its new Turbo 5 series in China on January 29, introducing two models: the Turbo 5 Pro and the Turbo 5 Max.
While Xiaomi has yet to reveal full details about the Pro variant, the Turbo 5 Max has already attracted attention for its standout combination of battery capacity and performance.
The Turbo 5 Max features a huge 9,000mAh battery, designed to deliver exceptionally long usage times.
Beyond endurance, Xiaomi has added practical functionality by enabling reverse charging at up to 27W through its in-house Surge P3 chip. This allows the phone to act as a power bank, capable of charging accessories such as wireless earbuds and smartwatches, as well as other smartphones.
To counterbalance the large battery size, Xiaomi has equipped the Turbo 5 Max with up to 100W wired fast charging, significantly reducing charging times and making the device more convenient for daily use. This combination of high capacity and fast charging positions the phone as an appealing option for heavy users.
At its core, the device is powered by MediaTek’s newly announced Dimensity 9500s processor. Aimed at the upper mid-range segment, the chip delivers reliable performance for gaming and multimedia while maintaining strong energy efficiency, further extending battery life.
Xiaomi appears to be targeting users who prioritize long-lasting performance without sacrificing speed, including gamers, frequent streamers, and users who need all-day power on a budget.
In terms of design, the Turbo 5 Max will be available in Ocean Breeze Blue and Sunrise Orange. The orange variant, in particular, stands out with a bold finish that has drawn comparisons to premium flagship designs, adding a youthful and stylish touch to the device.
Despite its already massive battery, Xiaomi claims the Turbo 5 Max can outperform some smartphones equipped with 10,000mAh batteries, thanks to software and hardware optimization. While real-world testing will determine how accurate this claim is, it reflects Xiaomi’s confidence in the device’s efficiency.
There is currently no confirmation regarding a global release. However, if Xiaomi brings the Turbo 5 Max to international markets with competitive pricing, it could quickly become a top choice for users seeking exceptional battery life without compromising performance.
