Bangladesh has strongly condemned former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Wajed for delivering a controversial audio speech from New Delhi, accusing her of acting as an instrument of the Modi government.
The Bangladeshi Ministry of Foreign Affairs criticized the Indian government for allowing the speech, calling it an insult to the people and government of Bangladesh. Officials warned that permitting Hasina to speak in this manner sets a dangerous precedent that could harm bilateral relations.
Analysts say the speech, in which Hasina allegedly encouraged dissent while in India, reflects a worrying situation where a supposedly democratic system is being used to advance foreign intelligence objectives.
The incident has sparked outrage among Bangladeshi citizens and raised concerns about its impact on regional diplomacy.
