In a heartwarming story from the United States, an animal shelter helped reunite a family with their long-lost pet dog after more than a decade.
Miami-Dade Animal Services in Florida shared on social media that earlier this month, a dog was brought to their shelter, where staff scanned its microchip.
The chip revealed that the dog’s name is Buttercup, it is 15 years old, and it had been missing for 10 years.
Using the information from the microchip, shelter employees contacted Buttercup’s owners and successfully reunited them with their beloved pet.
In its post, the shelter highlighted how moments like these demonstrate the importance of microchipping pets, which can help families reconnect with their animals even after many years.
