The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has rejected what it termed as a “dual standard” by the International Cricket Council (ICC) over the exclusion of Bangladesh’s national team from the forthcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.
In a meeting with national players, PCB Chairman Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi said the squad was taken into confidence on the board’s position regarding the World Cup. He said the players appreciated the PCB’s principled stance and expressed full support for it.
Naqvi said the position of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) was based on principles, and that Pakistan supported Bangladesh in line with cricket’s core values. He added that Pakistan’s players were talented and that success on any ground depended on teamwork.
The PCB chairman said politicised cricket served no one’s interests. He said the board would follow, in letter and spirit, the decision of the government of Pakistan regarding matters linked to the World Cup.
