The Indian media reports claimed that Scotland are likely to replace Bangladesh in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, scheduled to take place in India and Sri Lanka from February 7.
According to reports on Friday, Indian media also said the International Cricket Council (ICC) is expected to make an official announcement shortly. The ICC’s Dispute Resolution Committee (DRC) has declined to hear Bangladesh’s appeal against the decision to hold the national men’s team’s T20 World Cup matches in India.
This development has left room for Scotland to step in should the deadlock continue. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) had approached the DRC in a final effort to challenge a decision by the ICC Board of Directors, which voted by a large majority to retain Bangladesh’s group matches in India following an independent security assessment.
The ICC officials said the appeal did not fall within the committee’s jurisdiction and therefore could not be considered.
