The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has written again to the International Cricket Council (ICC), seeking a review of the venue arrangements for Bangladesh’s matches in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.
According to details surfaced on Friday, the BCB has raised the issue as a venue dispute and has called for the matter to be placed before the ICC’s Dispute Resolution Committee. The board has declined to send the national team to India for the World Cup, citing security concerns.
BCB president Aminul Islam said that if Bangladesh’s 200 million people were deprived of the World Cup, the loss would fall on the ICC. He also referred to the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, during which India received special arrangements, with the Indian team playing all its matches in Dubai instead of Pakistan. He added that, despite this precedent, the ICC had turned down Bangladesh’s demand for a change of venues.
Bangladesh are due to begin their T20 World Cup campaign against Italy at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on February 9.
