Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari shared updates on the Journalist Colony Phase Two housing project, stating that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz will personally distribute the allotment letters in February.
She said the Phase Two process is nearly complete and expressed satisfaction after reviewing the master plan for the project.
Bukhari added that upon seeing the master plan, the CM was very excited.
She highlighted that Phase Two will be among some of the world’s most modern, well-planned, and advanced housing societies, featuring parks, plazas, and homes that are comparable to luxurious villas.
According to Bukhari, earlier projects in Phase Two never received master plan approvals from the PJHF board, nor were funds provided to purchase land. In those cases, members had to pay for the land themselves. In contrast, under CM Maryam Nawaz’s plan, members will receive plots without paying for the land, only development charges.
The Information Minister addressed criticism of the project, saying, “Even as the land purchase progresses, objections continue. I do not understand why some critics have issues. If the roofs are being provided to these members, people should be happy.” She also expressed disappointment over journalists criticizing the initiative, urging them not to politicize the housing meant for underprivileged members.
Bukhari emphasized that the distribution of roofs is a commitment of the Punjab Chief Minister, and she encouraged everyone to rejoice in the happiness of the members rather than politicizing it. She concluded by saying that critics will continue to speak, but the day of allotment letter distribution will arrive as planned.
