The foreign media said that the International Cricket Council (ICC) has given the Bangladesh Cricket Board a further one-day deadline to consult the Bangladesh government on participation in the T20 World Cup matches scheduled in India.
According to details reported on Wednesday, should Bangladesh decline to play its matches in India, Scotland will enter the tournament as a replacement. Scotland finished fourth in the ICC European Qualifiers for the T20 World Cup.
The report added that a majority of ICC member boards voted in favour of naming an alternative team in place of Bangladesh.
It is worth noting that the Bangladesh Cricket Board and the Bangladesh government have restated their position of not travelling to India for the World Cup due to ongoing political tensions between the two countries.
