Babar Azam’s dismissal became the center of controversy during the first qualifier of the Big Bash League between Perth Scorchers and Sydney Sixers.
Chasing a target of 148 in Perth, Babar Azam walked out to bat for the Sydney Sixers but was dismissed on just the second ball of the innings. He was stumped off a delivery from Cooper Connolly, a decision that immediately drew attention and debate.
A video of the incident that went viral on social media showed a very close call, with the wicketkeeper breaking the stumps almost simultaneously as Babar attempted to get his foot back inside the crease.

Despite the marginal difference, the third umpire carefully reviewed the footage and ruled Babar Azam out.
Social media users appeared divided over the decision. While some fans believed the dismissal was fair, others argued that Babar had made his ground and should have been given not out.
The match itself ended in a heavy defeat for the Sydney Sixers, who lost by 48 runs. Chasing 148, the entire team was bowled out for just 99 runs.
It is worth noting that in the match prior to this qualifier, a moment involving Steve Smith and Babar Azam had also drawn attention. When
Smith declined to take a single, Babar showed visible displeasure, and shortly after coming on strike, he was dismissed.
In that previous match as well, Babar Azam had a brief outing, scoring just one run off seven deliveries before returning to the pavilion.
