NASA has begun collecting names from people who wish to have their names sent to the Moon as part of its upcoming Artemis II mission.
In a post shared on social media platform X, the US space agency urged people not to miss the opportunity to send their names to the Moon. NASA said the collected names will be stored on an SD card and carried aboard the Orion spacecraft during the Artemis II mission.
The Artemis II rocket is currently being prepared on the launch pad, with the launch expected in February. The 10-day mission will include four NASA astronauts who will travel around the Moon and return safely to Earth without landing on the lunar surface.
The mission is a key step in NASA’s Artemis program, which aims to return humans to the Moon for the first time in more than 50 years. Artemis II is part of broader efforts to pave the way for future lunar landings and long-term human exploration beyond Earth.
