WhatsApp is developing a new feature that allows users to set a cover photo for their profiles, giving them more ways to personalize their accounts. The update is currently in testing, according to WABetaInfo.
The new feature lets users add a large cover photo to their profile without affecting their profile picture or other account details. Users can easily set, move, or remove the cover photo from the app’s settings at any time.
Additionally, WhatsApp plans to add privacy controls similar to those for Last Seen, Profile Photo, and About sections. Users will be able to decide who can view their cover photo, providing greater control over profile visibility.
Additional privacy enhancements
WhatsApp is also developing a feature to make usernames more private. Currently, anyone can find a user via global search and message them directly. With the upcoming update, users will need to share a special code linked to their username before someone can message or call them.
These measures aim to enhance user privacy while still allowing personalization of profiles.
Availability and future updates
The cover photo feature is still under development and will be rolled out to iOS users in a future update. Meta has not yet announced a timeline for Android availability.
