Shah Rukh Khan’s highly anticipated action thriller King has been officially slated for release on Christmas 2026, sources close to the project have revealed.
The film marks the first on-screen collaboration between SRK and his daughter Suhana Khan.
According to Bollywood Hungama, SRK and director Siddharth Anand considered multiple release dates, including December 4 and December 25. They ultimately decided on a Christmas release to avoid clashing with Ranbir Kapoor’s Ramayana, expected to release on December 4.
A source shared, “SRK and Sid are clear in maintaining a gap from Ramayana, which could go on to record a historic business. They don’t want to come and hurt the business of this divine saga in any way.”
Star-studded cast
King brings together an ensemble cast including Deepika Padukone, Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Rani Mukerji, Abhishek Bachchan, Jaideep Ahlawat, Arshad Warsi, Abhay Verma, and Suhana Khan.
Produced under Red Chillies Entertainment and Marflix Pictures by Gauri Khan, Siddharth Anand, and Mamta Anand, the movie has a reported budget of ₹350 crore, making it one of the year’s biggest Bollywood projects.
First collaboration With Suhana Khan
The film will see Shah Rukh Khan sharing screen space with his daughter Suhana Khan for the first time. Fans are already excited about the father-daughter pairing, which adds a personal dimension to the highly anticipated action entertainer.
Strategic timing and industry anticipation
The Christmas 2026 slot ensures King gets a wide release window with minimal competition from other major Hindi films. While Hollywood releases may coincide, Bollywood audiences often prioritize SRK’s films as festive events.
SRK’s last major hit, Pathaan, set a high benchmark, and expectations for King are already soaring nearly a year ahead of release.
