Renowned Pakistani television actors Fazila Qazi and Kaiser Khan Nizamani have recently been in the spotlight - not for their acting, but because of a viral article written by their son, Zorain Nizamani.
Zorain, a lawyer currently pursuing a PhD in Criminology in the United States, wrote an article titled ‘It’s Over’ which quickly gained attention for its discussion on the inclusivity of the new generation in policymaking.
In it, he argued that young minds are no longer accepting outdated narratives promoted by those in power. The article was later removed after attracting scrutiny from higher officials. Fazila Qazi clarified that her son’s views are personal and do not reflect any political affiliations.
Speaking on podcast Excuse Me, Fazila Qazi defended her son, stating, “There was a lot of misinformation surrounding the article. The original piece did not contain anything controversial. What happened was a result of polarization in Pakistan. If you look at the new generation globally, they speak openly and discuss matters freely. Students abroad enjoy freedom of speech and express their opinions without hesitation.”
She added, “My son is pursuing advanced studies in criminology, political science, and criminal justice. They openly discuss such matters. As a nation, we have responsibilities toward the youth, but often power is misused instead. I am proud to be the mother of Zorain and Ahmed. I thank Allah for blessing me with such children. We raised them with the Quran as a guideline and encouraged them to seek knowledge and answers through it.”
