The long-standing issue of Indian visas for the ICC T20 World Cup has finally started to ease.
Sources divulged on Sunday that the visa hurdles began to reduce after weeks of uncertainty following the intervention of the International Cricket Council (ICC). The ICC stepped in to address the matter and work towards a resolution, sources said.
The sources pertaining to the development said that after the ICC’s involvement, work is under way to issue Indian visas. A total of 42 Pakistani-origin players and officials have applied for Indian visas for the World Cup.
Sources added that players from England and the Netherlands have already received their Indian visas. Earlier, several cricket boards had lodged complaints with the ICC over the non-issuance of visas to Pakistani-origin players.
It is worth noting that a few days ago, four United States players of the Pakistani origin were also facing Indian visa difficulties ahead of the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup.
