Pakistan has been invited to join the Gaza ‘Board of Peace’ being formed by United States President Donald Trump, the Foreign Office confirmed.
“The Prime Minister of Pakistan has received an invitation from the President of the United States to join the Board of Peace on Gaza,” FO spokesperson Tahir Andrabi told the media.
He added, “Pakistan will remain engaged with international efforts for peace and security in Gaza, working toward a lasting solution to the Palestine issue in line with United Nations resolutions.”
The Board of Peace is part of the US’ second phase of Trump’s 20-point peace plan for Gaza, which follows years of devastation caused by Israel’s bombardment.
This development is being viewed as both a positive step, reflecting Pakistan’s growing international standing, diplomatic influence, and trust. The invitation is a result of sustained state diplomacy, timely coordination, and a strategic approach aligned with national interests, combining both civil and military diplomatic efforts.
Pakistan is being recognized as a responsible, constructive, and solution-oriented actor on the international stage. Its participation in the Board is not about aligning with any political bloc but about supporting practical measures to alleviate the suffering of innocent civilians in Gaza and promoting a fair, sustainable resolution to the conflict.
Historically, Pakistan has consistently supported the Palestinian right to self-determination, protection of civilians, immediate ceasefires, unhindered humanitarian aid, and reconstruction efforts. The invitation offers Pakistan an opportunity to move beyond statements, play an active role, raise its voice effectively on global platforms, and ensure that international decisions consider the welfare of Palestinians.
Participation in this Board will also enable Pakistan to coordinate closely with the Muslim Ummah, fulfilling shared humanitarian and Islamic responsibilities. Pakistan aims to act as a proactive and principled state, ensuring transparency and fairness in aid and reconstruction while advocating for Palestinian interests.
Overall, the invitation to join the Gaza Peace Board represents an honour, a vote of confidence, and a responsibility for Pakistan - one that the country intends to leverage to play a positive role for humanity, the Muslim Ummah, and justice.
On Friday, President Trump named his Secretary of State Marco Rubio, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, World Bank President Ajay Banga, and senior negotiators Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff to the panel.
The following day, leaders from Egypt, Turkey, Argentina, and Canada confirmed that they had also been invited to join the peace board.
