The International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) have agreed not to maintain a deadlock regarding the national cricket team’s matches in India for the forthcoming T20 World Cup 2026.
According to details of the meeting between BCB and ICC officials that emerged on Saturday, the BCB had asked the ICC to move Bangladesh from Group C to Group B. Group C includes Bangladesh, England, West Indies, Italy and Nepal. All Group C matches are scheduled to be held in India.
the ICC director of security presented the BCB officials with the full security plan for the team and details of alternative venues. The sources divulged that in response, the BCB provided arguments regarding security concerns. Sources said.
The BCB also presented evidence of BJP officials and protests related to the IPL issue involving Mustafizur Rahman. The BCB proposed changing the group. Sources said.
It is pertinent to note that Group B includes Sri Lanka, Australia, Oman, Ireland and Zimbabwe. All Group B matches are scheduled to be held in Sri Lanka.
