The International Cricket Council was looking to convince Bangladesh to play their T20 World Cup matches in India.
According to information received on Saturday, the ICC delegation is due to arrive in Dhaka shortly to hold talks with the Bangladesh Cricket Board and government officials. Sources said the Bangladesh Cricket Board and the government have stood firm in the face of India’s rigid position. It has also emerged that the ICC’s Indian-origin Chief Executive, Sanjog Gupta, was refused a Bangladeshi visa. Following the refusal, only a one-member ICC delegation is travelling to Bangladesh.
The ICC Director of Security and Anti-Corruption, Andrew Figg, is expected to reach Bangladesh shortly. ICC officials are set to attempt to persuade the Bangladesh Cricket Board to agree to play the matches in India.
Bangladesh had earlier declined to play T20 World Cup matches in India, citing security concerns.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board has already demanded that the matches against India be shifted to Sri Lanka.
