The wedding celebrations of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz's son, Junaid Safdar, officially began on Friday evening with a colourful mehndi ceremony at the Sharif family’s Jati Umra residence, bringing together close relatives, friends and prominent political families in an intimate yet festive gathering.
The event was attended by members of the Sharif family and the family of the bride, Shanzeh Ali Rohail, along with close relatives and friends.
The ceremony was organised under traditional arrangements, with a warm family atmosphere and vibrant décor reflecting cultural customs.

Bride and broom’s attires
Junaid appeared in a deep navy blue traditional shalwar kameez with a waistcoat by renowned designer HSY, featuring subtle golden buttons and a clean, minimalist cut. The outfit gave him a refined and regal look.
He completed his attire with a golden-brown silk shawl draped traditionally over his shoulder. The bride, Shanzeh, on the other hand is said to have donned an ensemble by popular Indian designer Sabyasachi.

The mehndi was attended by members of the Sharif family, relatives of the bride Shanzeh Ali Rohail, and close family associates. The gathering remained relatively intimate, with around 350 guests invited to the Mehndi reception.

Adding a lively touch to the celebrations, renowned dancer and choreographer Wahab Shah was specially invited to perform. His performance was one of the highlights of the night and was warmly received by guests.

Traditional feast served to guests
A reception for approximately 350 guests was hosted by the Sharif family following the mehndi ceremony. Guests were served an elaborate spread of traditional and desi cuisine.

The menu is said to have included soup, chicken dampukht, daal gosht, aloo gosht, white rice, barbecue, gajar ka halwa (carrot halwa) and dal ka halwa, reflecting classic local hospitality.

Baraat scheduled for Lake City
The wedding festivities are set to continue with the baraat scheduled for Saturday at 1pm. Junaid Safdar will lead the wedding procession to Lake City.
Arrangements have been made to host around 400 guests, including members of the Sharif family and close relatives.
Grand Walima at Jati Umra Farms
The valima ceremony will take place on Sunday at the Jati Umra Farms. This final and largest event of the wedding celebrations is expected to host approximately 800 guests.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, along with federal and provincial ministers, senior political leaders and foreign guests, is expected to attend the walima reception. Security arrangements have been made accordingly.
