An Islamabad court on Thursday issued arrest warrants for Imaan Mazari and her husband, Hadi Ali Chattha, and cancelled their bail in a case related to controversial tweets.
The order was passed by Additional District and Sessions Judge Afzal Majoka during the hearing. The court expressed strong displeasure over the absence of Imaan Mazari from the proceedings.
The court cancelled the bail of both accused and issued their arrest warrants. It directed the authorities to arrest Imaan Mazari and Hadi Ali Chattha and place them in judicial lock-up.
The court further ordered that the accused be produced before it on Friday through a video link. Owing to their non-appearance, the court also withdrew their right of cross-examination.
Statements under Section 342 are to be recorded on Friday. The case is being heard at the District and Sessions Courts, Islamabad, and relates to allegations over controversial tweets attributed to the accused.
