Technology giant Apple has selected Google’s Gemini to power its artificial intelligence features, marking a major development in the rapidly evolving AI landscape.
The announcement of a multi-year partnership comes as another setback for OpenAI, the creator of ChatGPT, which is currently working with Apple to enhance the capabilities of Siri.
The new agreement was finalized ahead of Apple’s expected announcement related to Apple Intelligence.
In a joint statement issued by both companies, Apple said that after careful evaluation, it determined that Google’s AI technology provides the most capable foundation for Apple Foundation Models.
The statement added that Apple Intelligence will continue to operate on Apple devices and through Private Cloud Compute, while fully maintaining Apple’s strict privacy standards.
