Former Australia great Adam Gilchrist has commented on the inclusion of former Pakistan captain Babar Azam in the Big Bash League (BBL), where he is representing Sydney Sixers.
During commentary in a BBL match, former Australia batter David Warner put a question to Gilchrist. Warner asked, “Gilly, why do you think Babar Azam was picked for the BBL?”
In reply, the former wicketkeeper-batter said, “Because Australians love watching Test cricket, and Babar Azam is the only player who plays all three formats as if they are Test cricket.”
Gilchrist’s remarks prompted laughter from Mark Waugh and David Warner in the commentary box.
