The names of possible players for Pakistan’s T20 squad for the World Cup and the home series against Australia have emerged.
Sources divulged on Monday, the final consultations on the Pakistan squad for the World Cup and the home series against Australia will take place later this week. Salman Ali Agha is likely to lead the side.
Sahibzada Farhan, Saim Ayub, Fakhar Zaman, Shadab Khan, Babar Azam, Faheem Ashraf, Mohammad Nawaz, Usman Khan and Abrar Ahmed are also expected to be included.
The names of Shaheen Afridi, Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf, Salman Mirza and Khawaja Nafay are among other possible selections. Abdul Samad, Wasim Junior and Usman Tariq are likely to be named as reserve players.
Pakistan white-ball head coach Mike Hesson is due to arrive in Lahore following the conclusion of the Sri Lanka tour. Members of the national T20 squad are returning home today after completing the series in Sri Lanka. Final consultations with the selectors will take place between head coach Mike Hesson and captain Salman Ali Agha.
Once consultations are complete, the squad will be announced with the approval of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi. The PCB has already submitted a preliminary list of names to the ICC for the T20 World Cup. Changes to the squad may be made up to 31 January without ICC approval.
