Scientists have discovered an asteroid in space roughly the size of eight football fields.
The celestial body, named 2025 MN45, is moving at an exceptionally high speed, making it the fastest-spinning asteroid ever observed among those larger than 499 meters.
Measuring about 709 meters across, 2025 MN45 completes a full rotation around its axis in just 1.88 minutes. It orbits the Sun within the main asteroid belt of our solar system.
The main asteroid belt is located approximately 482.8 million kilometers from Earth and contains millions of asteroids ranging in size up to 529 kilometers.
While all asteroids move along their orbits, some spin faster due to several factors, including solar radiation, collisions with other asteroids, and their specific composition.
