Jacob Elordi marked a major milestone in his career after winning his first-ever Critics Choice Award for his role in Frankenstein, a moment he admitted he hadn’t prepared for.
Jacob Elordi scored a major win at the 2026 Critics Choice Awards, taking home the Best Supporting Actor trophy for Frankenstein.
The win marked Elordi’s first victory at the prestigious ceremony, signaling a significant turning point in his acting journey.
Reacting to the honor during his acceptance speech, Elordi appeared visibly surprised.
“Bloody hell. I really didn’t plan for it,” he told the audience, drawing laughter and applause from the room.
Heartfelt tribute to Guillermo del Toro
Elordi reserved special praise for Frankenstein director Guillermo del Toro, crediting him as a lifelong inspiration.
“Thank you, Guillermo del Toro. I love you. We all love you. You made my dreams when I was 11. I’m so happy to be here,” the actor said.
Praise for film’s creative team
The actor also highlighted the behind-the-scenes artists who helped bring Frankenstein to life.
He praised production designer Tamara Deverell, costume designer Kate Hawley, and prosthetic specialist Mike Hill, calling them “geniuses.”
“I couldn’t walk around like this in front of a green screen. You guys made that world so thank you,” Elordi added.
In Frankenstein, Jacob Elordi plays The Creature, starring alongside Oscar Isaac, Mia Goth, Felix Kammerer, and David Bradley.
According to IMDb, the film follows Dr. Victor Frankenstein, a brilliant but egotistical scientist whose monstrous experiment leads to the downfall of both creator and creation.
The Critics Choice win adds to Elordi’s growing list of accolades.
He also received Best Supporting Actor honors from the New York Film Critics Online and the Online Association of Female Film Critics in 2025 for the same role.
