Plaud has unveiled an upgraded version of its popular AI notetaker ahead of CES, introducing the Plaud NotePin S alongside a new desktop app that records online calls and generates AI-powered notes.

The Plaud NotePin S introduces a dedicated physical button, a feature previously limited to the more expensive Plaud Note Pro.

A long press starts or stops recording, while a short press marks highlights during conversations for easy reference later. Earlier versions required users to squeeze the device to begin recording.

Aside from the new button, the NotePin S retains a similar compact design and is available in black, purple, and silver.

The device can be worn as a clip, necklace, or wrist accessory. Unlike the first-generation model, Plaud now includes a lanyard, wristband, and magnetic clip in the box, allowing users to wear it without damaging clothing.

Price increase and availability

The Plaud NotePin S is priced at $179, up from $159 for the original NotePin.

The device is available starting today, though it is currently listed as out of stock on Plaud’s US website. The company is expected to replace the original NotePin with this updated version, which is also sold out.

Desktop app brings AI notes to online meetings

Alongside the hardware update, Plaud has launched a desktop AI note-taking app for Mac and PC.

The app can record meetings on platforms such as Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and other online call tools. It automatically detects when a user joins a call and begins recording and generating notes.

Unlike many AI meeting assistants, Plaud’s desktop app does not use a bot to join calls.

Instead, it relies on the computer’s recording hardware along with the NotePin device to capture audio and break conversations into structured AI-generated notes.

Core specs remain unchanged

The NotePin S retains the same core hardware specifications as its predecessor.

It includes 64GB of onboard storage, supports up to 20 hours of continuous recording, and features two MEMS microphones capable of capturing clear audio within a 9.8-foot range.

Users receive 300 minutes of free transcription per month.

Compared to the Plaud Note Pro, the NotePin S has a shorter recording range and lower battery life, but benefits from a smaller and more portable design.

Plaud says the device is aimed at users who are constantly on the move and need quick, wearable access to AI-powered note-taking.

Plaud is also adding Apple Find My support, making it easier for users to locate the device if it is misplaced.

This feature further positions the NotePin S as a practical everyday accessory rather than just a desk-bound gadget.
