The Cabinet Division has issued a formal notification announcing a public holiday on December 26 within the limits of the federal capital.
According to the notification, all offices of the Pakistan Secretariat and federal institutions located in Islamabad will remain closed on December 26. The decision applies strictly within the territorial limits of Islamabad.
The Cabinet Division also clarified that an earlier notification dated December 24 has been cancelled.
Essential services
Despite the holiday, hospitals, banks, and offices providing essential services will continue to function as normal. The Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad will also remain operational.
This measure aims to ensure that public services and emergency needs are not disrupted.
The notification further stated that offices of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), Islamabad Administration, Islamabad Police, IESCO, and Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited will remain open on December 26.
These departments have been exempted to maintain civic services and utilities across the city.
Senate Secretariat
Separately, an office order confirmed that the Senate Secretariat will remain closed on December 26.
Officials advised the public to plan visits to government offices accordingly.
