A man who bravely confronted an armed attacker during a deadly shooting on an Australian beach has been identified as a Muslim citizen.
The hero has been named as 43-year-old Ahmed Al-Ahmed, a fruit vendor from Sydney and a father of two. Ahmed courageously intervened to restrain the attacker and managed to snatch the rifle during the violent incident.
In the process of overpowering the gunman, Ahmed was shot twice in the arm. He is currently receiving treatment at a hospital, and doctors have confirmed that he is out of danger.
The shooting took place in Sydney during a Jewish religious festival, where at least 12 people were killed and 29 others injured, including two police officers. According to Sydney police, one attacker was killed during a counter-operation, while another was arrested in critical condition.
Authorities have declared the incident an act of terrorism and continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the attack.
