Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met leaders of Russia, Turkey, and Iran which was aimed at strengthening regional ties and agreeing on enhanced bilateral cooperation.
In Ashgabat, he held key meetings with the heads of Russia, Turkey, Iran, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan, where agreements were reached to enhance bilateral cooperation.
In discussions with Russian President Vladimir Putin, the leaders explored collaboration across multiple sectors and regional issues.
PM Shehbaz also met Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, welcoming Turkiye’s interest in energy, petroleum, and minerals.
Both leaders agreed to deepen political, defense, economic, and energy cooperation, while emphasizing the significance of the Islamabad-Tehran-Istanbul rail network.
Highlighting Pakistan’s security concerns, the Prime Minister appreciated Turkiye’s efforts to address the Gaza situation and reduce Pakistan-Afghanistan tensions, stressing that sustainable regional peace is impossible without addressing Pakistan’s security needs.
During talks with Iranian President Dr Masoud Pezeshkian, both countries expressed support against external aggression.
Agreements were reached to boost bilateral trade, promote border markets, enhance border security, and strengthen cooperation through the Balochistan transport network. PM Shehbaz also conveyed serious concerns over cross-border terrorism and urged the Afghan government to take effective measures.
The Prime Minister held informal meetings with the Presidents of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan, discussing mutual relations and regional developments.
In Ashgabat, he visited the Neutrality Monument, laying flowers alongside the Presidents of Russia, Turkey, and Uzbekistan, while reiterating Pakistan’s offer to use the Karachi and Gwadar ports for Turkmenistan’s trade access.
Addressing the Global Peace and Security Forum, PM Shehbaz emphasized that the international community should hold the Afghan government accountable. He reaffirmed that peaceful resolution of disputes is the cornerstone of Pakistan’s foreign policy and stressed Pakistan’s commitment to promoting global peace and security.
He also expressed delight at visiting the magnificent city of Ashgabat, praising Turkmen traditions of extending great hospitality to guests and congratulating Turkmenistan on 30 years of permanent neutrality.
Earlier, during a bilateral meeting with the Turkmenistan President, PM Shehbaz reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening trade and economic ties, emphasized the importance of expanding land and maritime connectivity, and again offered the use of Karachi and Gwadar ports for Turkmenistan’s access to South Asia.
