Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor Khan, married to superstar Saif Ali Khan, is at the center of yet another controversy after Mufti Abdul Qavi claimed in a podcast that he was once married to her.
The cleric’s statements have left the internet bewildered and sparked widespread reactions.
Mufti Abdul Qavi, known for his controversial statements and questionable social media antics, recently claimed that he was married to Kareena Kapoor Khan. He alleged that his Nikkah with the actress took place in the late 1990s and suggested that marrying Hindus is permissible in Islam if they possess a divine book.
In his podcast, Qavi said that his initial connection with Kareena began around 1996, when she was reportedly between 21 and 23 years old, and that their relationship continued until 1999. He further claimed that he supported Kareena’s subsequent marriage to Saif Ali Khan, asserting that Indian scholars had declared it halal despite the prior Nikkah.
Public reaction to claims
Social media users were quick to call out Qavi’s statements, highlighting inconsistencies. One user commented, “Kareena was born in 1980 and was in your Nikkah in 1982. At least keep your story straight.” Another added, “He is such a low life. That’s why other Maulanas threw him out.”
Netizens questioned the validity of Qavi’s claims, particularly his reinterpretation of religious rules and his alleged past marriage to a major Bollywood star.
During the same podcast, Mufti Qavi discussed other aspects of his personal and professional life. He mentioned his youth, connections with Dubai businessmen, and interactions with various Indian actresses. He also made provocative statements about other Bollywood celebrities, including expressing an interest in Aishwarya Rai.
