The government announced a reduction in petrol and high-speed diesel prices for the next fortnight, effective from December 1 (Monday).
The Petroleum Division issued a formal notification that confirmed the revised rates.
According to the notification, the price of high-speed diesel fell by Rs4.79 per litre, setting the new rate at Rs279.65 per litre. The government also approved a two-rupee cut in the per-litre price of petrol, which now stands at Rs263.45 per litre.
Earlier in November, the price of petrol had remained stable at Rs265.45 per litre. However, the government had decided to increase the price of high-speed diesel by Rs6 per litre.
