Princess Kate earned widespread praise after delivering a heartfelt message about balancing work and family life during her appearance alongside Prince William at the Royal Variety Show.
The Princess of Wales, 43, spoke passionately at an event at Salesforce Tower in London, urging businesses to value employees’ wellbeing as much as profit — a message experts say comes from a deeply personal place.
Addressing guests, Kate highlighted the importance of “valuing time and tenderness just as much as productivity and success.”
She stressed that profitability and having “a positive impact” on workers’ lives were not — and should not be — incompatible.
“Everyone of you interacts with your own environment; a home, a family, a business, a workforce, a community,” she told the audience, reflecting on how each of these spaces shapes wellbeing.
Message comes from real-life experience
Former royal correspondent Jennie Bond told The Mirror that Kate’s remarks resonated strongly because they reflect her genuine day-to-day experience as a mother.
“I admire Catherine for practising what she preaches,” Bond said, adding that the Princess fully understands the pressures facing working parents.
Bond noted that Kate is as hands-on a mother “as she can possibly be,” and that she has encouraged Prince William to be just as involved. The couple has occasionally faced criticism for ring-fencing school holidays as family time, but Bond said this reflects Kate’s deep belief that the early years of childhood are the most formative.
Following her speech at the summit, the future Queen returned to the Royal Variety Show, where she enjoyed performances and a night of glamour alongside Prince William.
Her appearance drew admiration not only for her dazzling red carpet presence, but for the sincerity and conviction behind her message about supporting families and prioritising wellbeing in the modern workforce.
